WoW Leatherworking Guide

Leatherworking is a Primary Trade Profession in World of Warcraft so it is good to be sure when you are choosing this profession that it is indeed one that you definitely want. This is because, as a Primary Trade Profession, Leatherworking does count toward your limit of Two Primary Professions. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you go with Leatherworking you will also need to have Skinning as your second Primary Profession. This is because Skinning and Leatherworking go hand-in-hand just like Alchemy and Herbalism or Jewelcrafting and Mining. You can always unlearn a profession but that also mean if you ever want to relearn it, then you will be starting completely from scratch as you will lose of the skill points that you earned while using that profession.
When in the 1-40 range some WoW players like to use the strategy of utilizing dual gathering professions to make large amounts of gold. For instance, one might combine Herbalism and Skinning or Mining and Skinning. You will want to decide on a crafting profession such as Leatherworking early on and hold some of the materials necessary for that profession in storage for later use. You would then unlearn the unnecessary gathering profession so that you can learn the appropriate complimentary crafting profession.
Through the Profession of Leatherworking you create a broad assortment of useful World of Warcraft items. The primary item that is produced through Leatherworking is armor. This includes leather armor as well as mail. Leatherworking also produces secondary items like ammo pouches and quivers. These are bags that not only hold bullets and arrows, but also provide a weapon speed increase to guns, bows, and crossbows. Another secondary item that can be made through Leatherworking is armor kits. These are capable of permanently adding armor class to your armor in much the same way as enchantments can permanently enhance armor.
Hunters and Shamans are the World of Warcraft character classes that derive the most benefit from this Leatherworking. However, it is also beneficial to Druids and Rogues during the early levels as they are incapable of using the mail armors that are produced at the higher Leatherworking skill levels. It is primarily the World of Warcraft character classes that wear leather and mail that stand to benefit from having Leatherworking as a Primary Profession.
Whether you want to produce armor for your own character or make it for your friends, Leatherworking is definitely an excellent profession for you to choose. It is also a good profession if you want to produce armor for sale and trade with other WoW players. Another advantage to keep in mind is that being a leatherworker can allow you to save a lot of money when buying blue armor at the auction house later in World of Warcraft.
